NEW CARRIER LAUNCHED
Rec. 11 a.m. NEW YORK, April 29. Speaking at the launching of the 45.000-ton carrier Franklin D. Roosevelt, the Secretary of the Navy, Mr. James V. Forre^tal, said that the ship would join 26 other American carriers as a symbol of the determination to prosecute the war against Japan to complete victory.
He added that the Japanese, like the Germans, may fight a desperate war of suicide and self-extinction.
Mrs. Roosevelt, Admiral King, and other dignitaries attended the launching.
