WAR INSURANCE RATES

Local advices have been received that scheduled war rates have been further reduced. Tho new rates are as follows (previous rates set out In parentheses) :—United Kingdom to or from Australia, Tasmania, or New Zealand, 2 per cent. (2 7-8 per cent); Pacific Islands, with or without transhipment, 2V> per cent. (2 7-8 per cent.); South America (Atlantic and Pacific ports), ex Pacific, via Pacific to or from Australia, New Zealand, Pacific Islands, via Cape, 2 per cent. (2y» per cent.), West Indies' to or from Australia, New Zealand, and Pacific Islands, via Cape, 2 per cent. (2^ per cent.), via Mediterranean, 3 per cent. (3% per cent.), via Panama unchanged at 1% per cent.: Persian Gulf to or from Australia or New Zealand, 2V 2 per cent. (3 per cent.) ; Ceylon and India to or from Fiji, direct voyages, 3 per cent.
