CATEGORY A MEN

RELEASES FOR SERVICE P.A. AUCKLAND, February 26. Appeals heard by the Auckland Armed Forces Appeal Board last week in respect of category A men who were retained in industry resulted in 110 reservists being made available for service. In 66 cases out of 217 the board issued straight-out dismissals and in 44 cases short postponements were allowed before the men would be available. At present the board is concentrating largely on groups of men in industries which are not greatly affected by seasonal demands. Later it ■will deal with cases of men in the freezing industry, wool stores, and other occupations for which the summer is the flush season.

Appeals in respect of category A men in the farming industry will also be set down for hearing shortly.
