BANNERS TO BERLIN

LONDON, February 5. The Moscow "Pravda." reviewing the Eastern Front, says that in three weeks the Red Army advanced up to 280 miles and is over the German frontier for a length of 375 miles. "The Red Army stands on the Oder, and the Germans are resisting with the desperation of the doomed," it says. "The Germand command is rushing out order after order in an attempt to stabilise the Eastern Front, but not the slightest respite will be given the enemy. The gigantic task facing our transport will be met and all difficulties will be overcome. Our banners will be carried to Berlin."

General yon Seydlitz, leading member of the Free German Committee, broadcast over Moscow radio another appeal to the Germans to give in. He said: "The Wehrmacht, after five years of war, is exhausted. The peace will be even harder if you miss this last opportunity. Further senseless sacrifices will destroy Germany's future."
