The Rev. D. Gardner Miller, of the Christchurch Central Mission,' has agreed to act for a year as "People's Evangelist" under the trust fund established by the will of the late Mrs. M. Caughey. Preston, Auckland.,, Arrangements are being made for his work in Christchurch to be continued during his absence, and he will return to Christchurch from time to time during the year. He will begin his tour at Auckland in March and will later visit Wellington, Christchurch, and -Dunedin, spending three months in eacu centre. Mr, Miller's appointment is the first made by the fund, which is controlled by a committee consisting ?f Representatives of the Presbyterian, Methodist, Congregational, and Baptist Churches, but the intention is that regular appointments should be made

Brangwin, manager for New Zealand of the Norwich Union Fire Insurance Society, Ltd., who has been nr charge of the society's business in New Zealand for-the last seven years, has been appointed to Sydney as joint manager and- deputy control officer for Australia. Consequential promotions advised by the board at Norwich are:-Mr. D. T. A. Burt, manager at Auckland, to be manager for New Zealand; Mr. S. A. Gleadow, assistant manager at Wellington to be manager at Auckland; Mr. T. F. Perkm to-be assistant manager at" Wellington.

Mr- Giles Tuker, a member of the British Farmers' Delegation now in New Zealand, has spent the past week in the Nelson district to study the truit, hop, and tobacco industries. Mr. Tuker as chairman of the Associated Fruitgrowers of Essex, Ltd., the biggest apple and pear co-operative in England, and a member of the Northern Farmers' Union Fruit Committee. He has been making his tour of the Nelson Province as the guest of representative farmers and orchardists
