A monstrous whale floundered into Machrinhanish Bay, near the Mull of Kmtyre (west coast of Scotland) last October, and the inhabitants held their breath in astonishment.' They have been holding their breath ever since, because the whale began to rot. Even the Royal Navy had to wear gasmasks when it tried to get rid of the monster. They dynamited it twice without much success, and then had to chop it up while fire pumps washed the remains away, ' .
