ORCHARDIST'S MISTAKE

P.A. HASTINGS, December 5. Holding.that the only workable way was for the count or printed label on a box of fruit to represent the number of fruit in the case, and not the size of the fruit, as argued by counsel. Mr. J. Miller, S.M., imposed a fine of £2 on Edward Malcolm Langley. Hastings, orchardist, who was charged in the Magistrate's Court, Hastings, with wrongfully numbering two cases of fruit. The Magistrate said the mistake the defendant made was to send bushel cases instead of half-cases. Bushel cases, he said, should not be used unless they were intended to be Uled.
