GREYMOUTH, This Day. In response to a resolution respecting the indecision of the Government regarding military defaulters, the executive of the Hokitika-Westland Returned Services' Association, at its I monthly meeting, received the followKief w n cs fKdS- c Ho°-J-o>Brien' "Telegraphed resolution of your branch received. Personally I consider the treatment of conscientious objectors has been harsh and that telegrams we are receiving are inspired by those whose legislation put returned soldiers in slave camps at 10s a week a lev/ years ago. Those people, if they had the power, would do the same again with the soldiers of this war." The secretary of the Hokitika-West-land R.S.A. stated yesterday that Mr. O Brien's telegram had aroused a good deal of feeling and indignation. It was further felt that the telegram created an inference that the association in its protest was inspired by another political party, whereas the association was aloof from that sort of thing and was entirely non-party political. The meeting decided to reply to the telegram and also to send a copy of it to the Dominion headquarters of the Returned Services' Association
