HEALTH CAMP
CHEQUE FROM SCHOOLS
A cheque for £100 for the Children's Health Camp at Otaki was presented by the representatives of the sixth standard pupils of 22 primary schools in Wellington at a cheerful gathering in the St. John Ambulance Hall yesterday afternoon. The money represented the profits of the recent schools' festival given in the Town Hall. Mr. A. O. Banner presided, and called upon Jack Trevethick and Patricia North, two of the pupils, to present the cheque. The boy expressed thanks for the benefits that were being conferred on so many children by giving them a holiday at Otaki, and asked the girl to hand over the cheque to Dr. Gibbs. Dr. Gibbs thanked them all collectively and individually for the fine work which had been done in connection with the festival, and for the j gracious thought in handing over the net proceeds -for the benefit of the Otaki Children's Health Camp. He also thanked Mr. T. J. Young for the manner in which he had taught so -many children to sing so beautifully, and Miss Conway, the secretary of the festival, for the interest sha had taken m the work. Besides the pleasure the children had derived in learning and singing their songs, they had at the same time given immense pleasure to others, and now, through the cheque, they were going to give pleasure and renewed health to a lot of children not perhaps so happily placed as themselves. I Mr. Banner, on behalf of the festival society, presented sealed envelopes to Mr. Young and Miss Conway as some slight appreciation of the notably good work they had done during the year. | The proceedings were brightened by the singing of the scholars present who numbered some 200.
