URGENT NIGHT CASES

MEW MEDICAL SERVICE

Better provision has now been made for the establishment of a night and weekend medical service in Wellington. In making this announcement today, Sir Charles Norwood, chairman of the Wellington Free Ambulance, said the Wellington branch of the British Medical Association, realising the difficulty at times in securing medical service after hours in urgent cases, had arranged that where residents were unable to obtain the services of their own medical adviser, they could telephone the Free Ambulance, No. 55-905, who would put them in contacj with a doctor. "It must be noted," said Sir Charles, "that this service is provided after 8 p.m. and at weekends only. This will prove a great boon to the public, and will fill a sorely-needed want, since it is known that a great shortage exists with so many of our medical i personnel away in the Fighting Forces. My board appreciates the fact that it will be able to serve the Medical j Association and the public in this! much-needed service." j
