ROBBED WHILE ASLEEP
SERVICEMAN IN HOSTEL
P.A. . AUCKLAND, This Day. An airman was robbed of £100 Z « S a aslee P in a dormitory at the V.M.C.A. hostel in Wellesley Street on Sunday night. The serviceman, Leading Aircraftman J. Leigh, who has just returned from overseas, placed his wallet, containing £100 in mixed currency, under his mattress when he went to bed on b"nday mgnt in a dormitory in which about 60 other servicemen were sleeping. When he got up in the morning the v/allet was gone. The theft was committed with such care that the victim was not disturbed in his sleep. He was making a brief stay in Auckland before leaving for his home in _ the South Island, and was left penniless.
