DESERTIONS OF FASCIST ITALIANS
Rec. 12.50 p.m. LONDON,-Dec. 4. A, "Times" correspondent says that Italian Fahcist troops, a few selected battalions of whom the Germans put into line a month ago, have been deserting at the rate of 30 a day. On one occasion 108 arrived in the Allied lines in seven hours. It is likely that large numbers of Italians have, deserted to Italian patriots in northern > Italy, while others have simply put on civilian clothes and returned home. It is known that the Germans trained.. and equipped four divisions of Italians, ' but never trusted more, than four or five battalions in the line in Italy.
