ON ITALIAN FRONT
PLANES BLOCK NAZI SUPPLY . LONDON, December 4. Of the' operations of the Mediterranean Air Force in northern Italy, General Eaker said the planes had been hampered by the worst weather, but had blocked the German supply route to a point where the enemy could not undertake an offensive. He described the attacks earlier in the •war against:the PlQesti oilfields as the I bloodiest air battle of the war They cost 350 planes and 3500 men, but these attacks were one of the reasons why the Germans were so short of fuel that they had practically abandoned their bomber force. The general disclosed that in nightl attacks the R.A.F. had dropped over. 1000 mines along the Danube, paralysing river traffic for long periods of the year.
