METROPOLITAN EVENT

A teanis-of-four match.under the auspices of the Wellington Metropolitan Golf Association took place on the Hu|t links yesterday. It was on a handicap basis, and resulted in a narrow win for Rangimarie from Hutt, with Manor Park in third place. Scores were:—

Maunder, 84, 16—U8J, 302. Manor Park (J. Tunnel!, 77, scr—77; M. Hennessey, 91, 12—79; F. Lusty, 103, 12—91; W. Crisp, 81, 6—75, 322. Otaki, 323; Boulcott, 331; Shandon, 336; Paekakariki, 336; Judgeford, 338; Paremata, 343; Wellington, 345; Pukerua Bay,, 352; Levin, 353; Miramar, 353. The best round was by J. Turnbull (Manor Park), who did the out journey in 39, and came home in 38. He was closely followed by J. L. Black (Hutt), who went out in 40 and did the home run in 38. ' j

At. a gathering in the clubhouse after the match, Mr. J. F. Pym, captain of the Hutt Golf Club, welcomed the visiting teams, and introduced Mr. Y. A. Ward, donor of the cup, and Mr. R. A. Whyte, chairman, of the Wellington Metropolitan Golf Association, who was responsible for organising the teams-of-four match. In presenting the trophies, Mr. Ward explained that the object of the competition was to bring? members of the various clubs together, and- so, foster the. spirit of goodfellowship. Mr. 'F.jJ'W. Cresswell responded on behalf of the, winning team.
