RETIRED TO STUD

BRAW LASS A GOOD WINNER

(By "Ariki Toa.")

The well-performed Braw Lass, who has proved herself one of the best pacers in her class, is being retired to the stud.; As a two-year-old she finished a close second to Special Edition in the New Zealand Futurity Stakes, and subsequently developed into a good winner over all distances. She is a daughter of Wrack and Fanny Huon, by Denver Huon from Gold Leaf, «by Coolgardie. Braw Lass will be mated with. Josedale Dictator.

Smith who was injured when Bluestock fell m the Waikato Handicap at Claudelands last Saturday, was well enough to leave hospital on Tuesday and is now recovering at his home in Takanini. It transpires that his jaw was dislocated, and not fractured as was first reported.

Auckland Purchases.— Among the recent purchases of southern horses by Auckland sportsmen are Thumbs Up Erin's Country, Oxford Scholar, and Ann Scott. Both Thumbs Up and Oxford Scholar were secured by Mr-. E. E.. Cressey, and Erin's Country and Ann Scott by Mr. J. R. Henderson. The first-named three have shown plenty of ability in the south, and it
