USE OF HUTS
A renewed warning to purchasers of Public Works huts was given by the chairman' of the Southland County Council, Mr. G. W. Whittingham. He said that some of the huts had been purchased to make homes, reports the "Southland Times." The buyers were under the impression that they could be used for that purpose, but unfortunately for them they did not conform with the bylaws of the county and could not be passed for dwellings. . Neither did they conform to the health regulations—they had insufficient window space and in some cases insufficient floor space. "I would like the public to know that these Government huts do not conform with the bylaws so that they will be saved unnecessary expense after making their purchases. The regulations are there and they must be observed," said Mr. Whittingham.
