FOOTBALL CROWDS
Sir, —It is now nearly half a century since big football crowds began to assemble at Athletic Park, and it is painfully evident, from the way that some 2000 people spilled over into the arena a considerable time before the conclusion of, the game that the authorities in charge of Saturday's match have failed to master the task of managing a crowd. To make high charges for viewing a game and then to allow the spectators to overrun the ground is beyond excuse. Surely the services of a sports ground. architect can be secured for the purpose of finding proper safeguards.—l am, etc., DISPLEASED.
