MR. W. MORRISON PROMOTED

After having served for seven years as manager of the Auckland branch of the Union Bank of Australia, Ltd., Mr. W. Morrison is to be transferred on promotion towards the end of the ye^r to the position of chief inspector of the bank m New Zealand. This position is at present held by Mr. T. P. Fotheringham, who was appointed inspector for New Zealand in 1933 and is to retire on December 31 after 44 years' service. Mr. Morrison has served the bank for over 40 years. He joined in London and came to New Zealand in 1904. He-occupied various positions at branches throughout the Dominion before being - appointed to his first managership at Te Awamutu. He was subsequently manager at Whakatan'e. Invercargill, Timaru, and Dunedin. A proud war record is held by Mr. Morrison's family. Two sons gave their lives in the fighting in Libya and Crete and a third has been returned wounded from the Middle East. A fourth son is in the Navy and a daughter is overseas as a V.A.D.

Mr. Morrison will be succeeded in Auckland by Mr. J. B. Stewart, at present manager in Dunedin.
