INCREASE IN FEES

LIFE-SAVING EXAMINATIONS

Because of the deficit in the year's working and the fact that sources of income were limited because of the war," it was decided at the annual meeting of the Wellington branch of the Royal. . Life-saving Society last night to increase some of the examination fees for awards made by the society. The new fees, with the previous ones in parentheses, will be: —

Elementary certificates, 6d (3d); intermediate certificates, Is (Is); bronze medallion, 2s 6d (2s); first bar to medallion, 2s (2s); second bar, Is (Is); instructor second class, Is 6d (Is); instructor first class, 2s 6d (2s); award of merit, 10s (7s 6d); bar to award, 3s (3s); diploma, 15s (12s 6d); resuscitation certificate, ■ 2s, and for school children, Is.

In moving the adoption of the annual report the president, Mr. N. A. Ingram, said it was pleasing to note the assistance given to the work of the society by the defence authorities and by officers overseas. He paid a tribute to the work of Mrs. I. McCabe and Mrs. J. T. E. Brenkley and also that of Flying Officers O. S. Meads and J. White in the Pacific.

Later the meeting decided to send a letter of appreciation to the two flying officers for their activities among the men in the Pacific.
