SOUTHLAND PROVINCE P.A. INVERCARGILL, October i. Southland won the first honour banner by being the first province in New Zealand to reach its objective in the Victory Loan. The amended objective of £1,377,900 was reached af 2.30 p.m. today. Invercargill City reached its objective at 10 a.m. f the first city in New Zealand to do so.
A total of £X 34,300 was contributed in the district today, the biggest - amount for any one day during the campaign.
