COMMANDO LANDING
GREEK ISLANDS
NO OPPOSITION
LONDON, October 1. British forces have landed on three Greek islands, one of which is between Crete and the'mainland.
The landing was made by commandos, who, in this move towards the liberation of Greece, sailed to the vicinity of the islands in a Canadianmaimed ship and then went ashore in assault craft.
Light forces of the Royal Navy covered the landings. No opposition was encountered by the commandos, who, with the naval forces still cooperating, are now engaged in getting supplies ashore.
The liberating forces were given a great welcome by the people of the islands.
Kythera, off the southern tip of the mainland, is named as one of the islands which have been liberated. The names of the others have not been disclosed.
