NO NEW TAXI METERS
O.C. _ AUCKLAND,-This Day. The importation of taxicab could not be recommended by the Minister of Transport (Mr. O'Brien) under present conditions, stated a letter from the Commisisoner of Transport, Mr. G. L. Laurenson, received by the Metropolitan Licensing Authority yesterday. A letter from the authority ori the subject was placed before the Minister, said the commissioner, but he felt he was unable to recommend the importation of meters to the supply authorities. The impossibility of obtaining new meters and the difficulty of keeping old ones in repair have caup?d taxi proprietors consider - s Die concern.
