BRISBANE DOCK OPENED
SYDNEY, September 18.
A prediction that the Philippines will fall soon was made by the Army Minister, Mr. Forde, at the opening of the Cairncross graving dock at Brisbane. Though not so large as the dock that is now nearly completed in Sydney, the new Brisbane dock is the largest dry dock now available toihe Allied forces in the Southern Hemisphere. Mr. Forde said the dock was opened in good time. The American navy, the Australian Navy, and important detachments of the British Navy would fight side by side in the naval battles that would take place north of Australia against the Japanese.
