PROGRESS IN BURMA
Rec,io:a.m. RUGBY, Sept. 1.! Further progress on. the Central. Burma front is announced in a southeast Asia communique, which states that the west bank of the Chindwin River is now clear of Japanese. Enemj resistance ; from the Kabaw Valley to Thaungdun has ceased. On the Tiddim road, infantry, supported by tanks, are attacking Japanese .' rearguards 30 miles north of Tiddim. Bad weather hampered air operations in Central Burma. One 6f^ our aircraft is missing.—B.O.W.
