THEFT OF BOOTS
An appeal for leniency because he had completed arrangements to go to Abstralia in the near future, was made by Douglas Gordon .'Brough, labourer, 45, in the Magistrate's Court today after he haql admitted the theft of a, pair of boots, valued at £1 9s 6d, from Martins Shoe Stores, Ltd. Senior Sergeant G. Paine said that the accused had a bad record, both in Australia and New Zealand.
"I think that with your list you will have to wait a month or two before you go to Australia," commented Mr. J. L. Stout, S.M., in sentencing Brough to three months' imprisonment with hard labour.
