BERLIN OPINION
COLLAPSE IN TWO MONTHS
LONDON, August 15.
Seventy-five.. per cent, of Berlin diplomats and higher Nazi officials predict a German collapse within two months, according to a well-informed traveller from the Reich, says -the "New York Times" correspondent in Stockholm. It is pointed out, however, that the collapse this time will not be tantamount to an armistice, because the fanatical Nazis, having no other choice, will probably go on fighting guerrilla warfare long after the last hope is gone. " Military operations on German territory, therefore, may well continue into the spring.1
The traveller explained that the Ges-' tapo, as units, will .continue fighting because they think they1 cannot expect pardon from the victors, and>wjll also be forced to defend themselves Against the anti-Nazis, who will find the time opportune to settle their old scores. The Germans fear that; prisoners of war and foreign slave- labour will run berserk between the German collapse and the end of- the last Nazi resistance. . ' ■■'."" ..■' .'. ':■ V v _X;:.'.~.
