PATTON GETS PROMOTION
Rec. 10 a.m. WASHINGTON, August 15,
The Military Affairs Committee of the Senate has unanimously approved the promotion of George S. Patton to the permanent rank .of major-general. Patton at present holds the temporary rank of lieutenant-general. *
The Senate had deferred confirmation of the promotion because of the soldier-slapping incident.
