TEN MONTHS FOR THEFT
A total of ten months' imprisonment for the thefts of clothes wringers and lawn mowers was imposed on Thomas Greenwood Schofleld, fireman and fitter, 51, by Mr. J. L. Stout, S.M., in the Magistrate's Court today. Frederick Cecil Baker, labourer, 48, who was jointly charged with Schofield with the theft of one.wringer, valued at £3 16s 6d, was sentenced to a month's imprisonment with hard labour. Schofield had stolen the wringer in that case, said Detective-Sergeant J. Thompson, and Baker had taken it to a second-hand dealer to sell it. Baker pleaded guilty to the charge. Besides the joint charge, Schofield also pleaded guilty to three other charges, involving the theft of two wringers and two lawn mowers. Detective' Sergeant Thompson said that there had been numerous complaints from householders regarding the theft of such articles. Schofleld, besides the month's imprisonment on the joint charge, was sentenced to three months on each of the others, the sentences to be cumulative. . . ~ ... i.._ i. dtli,,.LK.ldhU*llftl
