FINDON'S GOOD EFFORT

P A. CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. Hearth, Bashful Lady, and Sal's Pal were associated in a smart run over a mile in 1.44 1-5 on the. outside of the course proper at Riccarton this morning. The track was in good order and the horses were aided by a following wind in the run home. Tring led Gulf Stream and Minority in the early stages of their mile trial, but they were in line at the finish to record 1.45 4-5. Foxhaven finished on too strongly for John o* London and Chicago to record 1.4 2-5 for five furlongs. Beau Cheval and Pensacola worked over the same ground in 1.2 1-5, while John Gay and Irish Note recorded 1.3 4-5. Scottish Lad worked over a mile in 1.48, the last half-mile in 52 2~ssgc ■Foxleap strode freely over seven furlongs in 1.31 3-5, the first three in 40 2-ssec. Aurora Australis beat Poutatau by. half a length over six furlongs in 1.18 2-5. Royal Flight and Notary ran the same distance in 1.18 1-5, Royal Flight giving her stable-mate a break at the start in addition to having had a good deal the worse of the weights. Tomahawk and Trueway ran their first two furlongs in 27 2-ssec and finished six furlongs in 1.20 2-5. Platform and High Play took 1.21, their first two in 26 4-ssec. Foxchase was too good for Hippodrome and Good Fun over half a mile in 50 2-5 sec, though there was not much between them at the finish. Findon finished in front of Royal Greek, Pink Bonnet, and Flahuluk after covering six furlongs in 1.20, the opening two, in 27 2-ssec. Flahuluk was in front nearing the post, but was eased right up.- Lenardo took 54 2-Ssec for half a mile. Sham Boy registering 52 2-ssec. Lance Wing galloped well to record 50 2-ssec. As Required, who will run in the Grand National Huvdles, was schooled by D. Dawson, who will ride him in the National, over four hurdles with Forage. As Required made an excellent showing. Invincible was well clear of Po-Huka over the final stages of a trial over six hurdles. Kanui Te Pai outjumped Dozie Boy and Spanish Main consistently over eight of the trial steeplechase fences. Tideover went alone over five fencel, doing much better with the pace on.
