AWARD OF BAR TO D.F.C.
Details of the citation to the award of a Bar to the Distinguished Flying Cross won by Acting Squadron Leader F J. Lamason. \D.F.C-, of Napier (announced in June), have been received by the Air Department. He has since been reported missing on air operations. The citation states that since being awarded the D.F.C., he continued to operate with courage and devotion to duty of a high -order. "He completed a large number of operational missions, including several attacks on Berlin and other heavily-defended German targets, and always pressed home his attacks with vigorous determination. His gallantry, leadership, and enthusiasm have been extremely, praiseworthy." He was born in Napier in 1918, and before joining the R.N.ZA.F. was employed as an inspector in the Government Live Stock Division at New Plymouth.
