OTAGO BEATS SOUTHLAND.
PX INVERCARGILL, July 29. In a game characterised by hard forward play and plenty of bright exchanges between the back divisions. Southland were defeated by Otago in the first of the annual internrovinclal Rugby matches on Saturday. Otago won by 11 points to 9. For Otago, T. Campbeir and A. McAuliffe scored tries, D. Murdoch converting one, and R. Masters kicked a penalty goal. E. Campbell potted a goal for Southland, and N. J. Bennett score a try which was converted by J. Kirkwood.
