BIOGRAPHICAL NOTES

Brigadier Dove, C.8.E., M.C., was born at Rockhampton, Queensland, in 1894. He served for six years .in the King's College Cadets, Auckland. On the outbreak of the Great War he enlisted in the New Zealand Expeditionary Force, and served in Samoa until April, 1915. When he returned from Samoa he was commissioned as second lieutenant and was posted to the Waikato Regiment. Later he was reposted to the N.Z.E.F., and as a lieutenant in the 4th Battalion of the N.Z. Rifle Brigade served in Egypt, France, and Belgium from 1916 until 1919. He was promoted to captain in December, 1916, and in 1917 was awarded the Military Cross. In December, 1919, he' was appointed lieutenant in the N.Z. Staff Corps, ap.d held various appointments as adjutant and area officer, but transferred to the reserve of officers in January, 1922. On the outbreak of the present war he was recalled to the active list of the Staff Corps, and in September, 1939, was appointed a G.S.O. at Headquarters, Northern District. In April, 1941, he was appointed G. 5.0.1., Ist Division, and in August. 1942, was seconded to the 2nd N.Z.E.F. in the Pacific. He has served with that force to date as Base Commandant and Officer i/c. Administration. His next-of-kin is his wife, Mrs. M. H. Dove, 135 Victoria Avenue, Remuera, Auckland. Brigadier Potter, D.5.0., was born at Auckland in 1894. He served fqr four years in the Auckland Grammar School Cadets. In March, 1913, he was selected as a staff cadet for the R.M. College, Duntroon, where he graduated in 1915, and was appointt . lieutenant in the N.Z. Staff Corps, in which rank he served with the N.Z.E.F. in France and Belgium from 1916 to 1919. After his return to New Zealand he held various appointments as, area officer and adjutant at Auckland until August, 1925, when he proceeded to India for attachment to the British Army for two years. From 1927 to 1934 he was stationed at Palmerston North, where he was officer in charge, Regimental District. A similar appointment wa- held by him at Hamilton from 1934 until 1937, when he was appointed a G..3.0. at Headquarters, Northern District, Auckland. In 1938 he was appointed Commandant, District School, Trentham, and in 1939 was reappointed G.S.O. at Northern District He iquarters. In October, 1940, he was appointed to command the Central i'ield Force at Wellington, and in November, 1941, was seconded to the 2nd N.Z.E.F. Brigadier Potter commanded the New Zealand Brigade in the operations at Vella Lavella in September-October, 1943, and also in the attack and seizure of the Green (Nissan) Islands Group. His nextofkin is his wife, Mrs. T. Potter, c/o Mr. C. J. Steedman, Bank of New/ Zealand, Tauranga. Lieut.-Colonel Bennett, M.C., D.S.Q., was born at Lyell (Buller) in 1898. From 1912 to 1914 he served in the Nelson College Cadets and in H Bsttery. Nelson. He enlisted for active service in August, 1914 (at the age of 16). and was overseas in the Great War with the Canterbury Regiment from October, 1914, to April 1919. He was commissioned in May, 1918, and was awarded the Military Cross in February,' 1919. He joined the 2nd N.Z.E.F. in September. 1939, and proceeded to Egypt with the rank of captain in an infantry battalion with the 3rd Echelon. He was invalided to New Zealand in July. 1941. On recovery he proceeded to Fiji, where he served with a New Zealand brigade as staff captain. On the formation of the 3rd Oivision he was transferred thereto and held the appointments of D.A.Q.M.G. and later of ' A.A. and.

Q.M.G. in that formation. LieutColonel Bennett took part in the operations which resulted in the capture of Vella LaVella and Treasury Islands. Warrant Officer Henderson, M.8.E., was born at Paekakariki in 1918. In January, 1942, he enlisted for the 2nd N.Z.E.F., and since March,' 1942, has served in Fiji, New Caledonia, Guadalcanal, and in the more forward areas in the Solomon Islands. His next-of-kin is his father, Mr. A. J. Henderson, Yv.'llington Road, Paekakariki. Captain Blundell, M.C., was born at Wellington in 1919 and was educated at Nelson College. He joined the 2nd N.Z.E.F. in July, 1940, and served in Fiji and later with the 3rd Division. In October, 1943, he took part in the operations at Timbala Bay. Captain Blundell has served as a commissioned officer since November, 1940, and attained his present rank in September, 1942. Before joining the Army he was employed by the "Evening Post." His next-of-kin is his father, Mr. L.. C. Blundell, 25 Rawhiti Terrace, Kelburn, Wellington. ' Staff-Sergeant Braddock, 8.E.M., was born at Wellington in 1921. He enlisted in the 2nd N.Z.E.F. in August, 1942, and since November, 1942, has served in the Pacific area with an M.T. company of the Army Service Corps, including the operations at Vella Lavella. His next-of-kin is his father, Mr. K. F. L. Braddock, 65 Para Street, Wellington.
