Mopping-up operations and elimination of snipers continued on Saipan on Monday and Tuesday, says a Pacific Fleet communique. One marine regiment killed, 711 enemy troops on Monday. Our forces have now taken prisoner over 1000 enemy troops and interned over 9000 Japanese civilians. Carrier-based aircraft attacked Guam and Rota on Monday, and military installations at Agana, Umatac, and Agat, towns on the western shore of Guam Island, were bombed and subjected to rocket fire. Buildings near Orote Point were also hit. Runways and defence installations were bombed at Rota.
Liberators dropped 50 tons of bombs on Dublon Island, a naval base in Truk atoll, on Monday.
Neutralisation raids against the Marshall Islands were carried out on Monday.
