MINES EXPLODED
HUGE FISH HARVEST Dull, deep explosions, which could be heard for a considerable distance, marked the blowing up yesterday of a number of mines which for some time had been guarding Wellington Harbour. The mines were electrically fired in series inside the Heads and provided a remarkable sight. Many naval launches were present, two Harbour Board launches, and several from the Wellington boat harbour. There was a huge harvest of fish, stunned or killed by the explosions, and small boats of every description were used to gather them in. It took little time to fill a boat, and many were fully loaded. .
