WEDDING

SHERRIFF—ATKINSON.

A wedding of interest to a wide circle of friends in both the North and South Islands was solemnised in St. John's Church, Willis Street, Wellington, on Saturday, June 3, when Wanda Claire, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. F. C. Atkinson, Wellington, was I married to Sergeant Collin Bedford (N.Z.E.F., furlough), eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. L. Sherriff, "Rusthall," Wanganui. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a charming gown of heavy white silk embossed cloque, cut on simple lines with a slight train. The tradition of "something old" was carried out by the wearing of a beautifully embroidered veil, which had been worn by her aunt at her own wedding 31 years previously, while the coronet of orange blossom was lent by; an old friend. "Something blue" appeared in her beautiful sheaf pf white chrysanthemums, cyclamen, and freezias, with a centre of blue and pink lucullia. The bridesmaid, Miss Joyce Atkinson, the youngest sister of the bride, was frocked in azure blue taffeta finished at the neckline with an unusual brooch of silver and blue, the gift of the bridegroom. She carried a sheaf similar to that of the bride, in shades of pink and cyclamen, and wore a matching spray in her hair. The bridegroom was .attended by W.O. C. A. Webster (also on furlough from the Middle East). During the service a solo, "Thanks be to God," was sung'by the younger sister of the bride, Miss Doreen Atkinson. ' ' . A reception was held at the Lyceum Club rooms, where the guests were received by the bride's mother, who was assisted by the mother of the •bridegroom. During the reception a solo was sung by Miss Molly McKenzie.
