Several, matters of general interest came before the-'council of the Palmerston North Chamber of Commerce, states "The Post's" correspondent. The possibility of .having steam-heated carriages attached to the trains known as Field's expresses, running between Palimerston North and Wellington, is to be investigated. The need for the restoration of coastal shipping as soon as possible is to be brought to the notice of the Associated Chambers. .The further curtailment of radio broadcasting hours Ito save electric power is supported. Members saw no reason why there should not be a radio black-gut from 4.30 p.m. to 6 p.m. and from 10' a.m. to noon. The council is also v supporting the protest at the composition of the organisation being set up for national development. The contention is that the farming industries, manufacturing . interests, trades, and professions' should have representation. Better Customs facilities for Palrnerston.North are to be, urged.
