JAPS IN LOYANG
SECOND PENETRATION
BATTLE RAGES IN STREETS LONDON, May 17. On the Yellow River front in central China, the Japanese have broken into Loyang city for the second time, and the battle has been going on in the streets as well as outside. While the Chinese have been battling to retain their hold on the positions on the railway to the mountainous interior, other Chinese forces have made progress with their counteroffensive more than 100 miles away across the Honan wheat fields. These forces have now won back 20 miles of the Peking-Hankow trunk railway.
