O.C. PALMERSTON N., This Day. Should letters of explanation sent in to the Transport Department by motorists interrogated regarding alleged breaches of the traffic regulations be made available to the Court? In view of a recent Magisterial pronouncement that they should be made available, the Minister of Transport sent a letter to the North Island Motor Union asking for a reconsideration of the policy of not placing them before the Court, as it had originally been adopted at the suggestion of the Motor Union. The council decided that the explanations given by motorists should remain confidential to the Department. %
