LORD ADVOCATE WELL

Palfrey and Caithness were Great Autumn Handicap candidates to please their admirers at Riccarton this morning, both galloping well over a mile on the trial grass, which was in good order. The outstanding gallop, however, was the six-furlong effort in 1.16 1-5 by Lord Advocate and Theolateral. They ran the opening two in 25 4-ssec, and Lord Advocate was galloping very smoothly at the finish. Caithness worked alone over a mile. She ran the first half in 51 2-5 sec, and completed the full distance in 1.43 4-5. Palfrey held Foxleap off by three-quarters of a length, with Arustra beaten off, at the end of a mile in 1.43, the first half in 52 l-ssec. Chestnut Glow, after doing the opening three of seven furlongs in 37 2-ssec, completed the distance in 1.30 3-5. Nurnie strode out freely over seven furlongs, the first six taking 1.16 4-5, and the last four in 52 l-ssec. Hine Rei had her neck in front of Miss Medley after sprinting four furlongs in 50 l-ssec. Siegwood ran away from Double Cross to record similar time, while Palora took 51 l-ssec.

Bonnie Nig^ht was no match for Pink Reel over six furlongs in 1.28, Pink Reel-running the last four in 52 2-5 sec. Eulogist recorded 1.19 4-5, the final four in 53 3-ssec.

Foxhaven and John o' London ran home from the five-furlong peg in 1.6 2-5, the first furlong taking 13 2-ssec. Salary.was going easily half a length in front of Receptive at the end of six furlongs in 1.18 4-5, the opening two in 26 l-ssec. Stavros and Periwig galloped nicely over five furlongs in 1.3 4-5, the first taking 13 4-ssec.

St. Cloud was going more easily than -Justitia over the final stages of seven fur.longs in 1.32, the pair coming home from the half-mile in 52 2-5 sec. Bill Gundi worked alone over six furlongs in. 1.19 1-5, the last four in 54 2-ssec.

Lowry Bay could have beaten High Ideal by more than a neck over seven furlongs in 1.32. They ran the first three in 39sec.

Dancing Fawn again showed too much speed for Record Voyage oyer half a mile in 52 3-ssec, Lance Wing taking 52 3-ssec, Air Lord and Velvet Slipper 50 4-ssec, and Chiding 51sec for the same journey. Scottish Lad ran half a mile up the back in 49 3-5 sec, but took 1.45 4-5 to complete a mile.

Colais, after taking 27sec for the first two furlongs, completed six in 1.19. Barrage had to be ridden hard to keep with Hormuz over the final stages of five furlongs in 1.4 2-5, the first furlong in 13 l-ssec. Beau Cneval went with them, but dropped out over the final furlong.

The Champ and Tara King ran six furlongs in 1.18 2-5, the final four in 51 4-ssec. Stand To ran four furlongs in 52 l-ssec, moving smartly over the last three. Rawhamai was too good for Twelve Pointer over the concluding stages of five furlongs in 1.3 4-5, the first furlong in 14sec. Te Awe Awe sprinted her five furlongs in 1.3 3-5, the first in 13 3-ssec. Even Calm was half a length in front of Honest Sal and Big Top after taking 1.32 4-5 for seven furlongs. They ran the opening three in 38 4-ssec, and were allnicely held over the last furlong. Marshall Cook and Tea Drop were ten lengths clear of Simon Tor after doing four furlongs in 50 2-ssec. Moutoa Bond, looking well, strode over six furlongs in 1.20, the final four taking 53sec.
