No decision has yet been made ift New Zealand regarding the offering of permanent commissions! in thd R.N.Z.A.F. to officers who may wish, tq continue in the service after the warj A recent announcement from Londonl stated that in the R.A.F. officers are being invited to apply for permanenti commissions in the general duties (inH eluding flying), technical equipmentj accounting, medical and chaplain! branches, but that they may not be notified of the decisions until after the war.
There has been some speculation in' view of the probability that New Zealand's air force may well become the major defence force of the Dominion in post-war years, and several officers, particularly among those .who joined the service at the completion of their schooling without entering industry or the professions, have contemplated remaining in it if they receive the opportunity. Although the matter has been under discussion, rio announcement can be made at the moment.
