BIG FIELDS ENGAGED O.C. AUCKLAND, This Day. In some instances the fields for the opening day of the Auckland Meeting are particularly big, but others are modest. The few visiting horses engaged have arrived, but in the main competition will be restricted to provincial candidates. Unless rain falls the going will be perfect. The hack mile promises to be run in two large divisions, but the totalisator will operate only once, and the same applies to the President's Handicap, in which five withdrawals are required to avoid divisions.
