HEAVY LOSSES BY JAPS
LONDON, January 27. At his Press conference in Washington today, Mr. H. L. Stimson, the American Secretary of War, said that Allied airmen in the South-west Pacific had wrought havoc with Japanese planes. He said that so far this month in the South-west Pacific, 463 enemy aircraft had been destroyed with another 109 claimed as probables. In addition, 23 enemy ocean-going vessels had been sunk.
