AIRGRAPH SERVICE
NOT TO WAR PRISONERS
A number of airgraph messages addressed to prisoners of war are being presented, but it was pointed out today by the postal authorities that such messages cannot be accepted. The airgraph service, it was stated, would accelerate transmission from New Zealand to the United Kingdom, and, therefore, the possibility of extending the service to messages addressed to prisoners of war in Europe had been under consideration for some time past with the appropriate authorities overseas. Unfortunately, it had not been possible up "to the present to overcome the difficultes involved, and therefore the New Zealand Post Office had no option meanwhile but to return such messages to the sender. The special prisoner of war air-mail letter-card offered the quickest means for communicating with those who were in military prison camps in Europe.
