CLEARING THE WEST COAST P.A. CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. Traffic was resumed on the Midland line at midnight, and since then a I steady stream of goods has been arriving in Canterbury. Early this morning more than 1000 tons of coal has been brought over to the East Coast, and throughout the day more trains with coal arrived. The transport of coal, together with the dispatch of empties to the West Coast, will continue night and day throughout the weekend in an effort to shift the huge accumulation from the coast. Apart from coal, there is also a big accumulation of timber, and this also will be shifted. The expresses both from Christchurch and Greymouth ran as usual this morning although . the amount of traffic on the line is very great and speed restriction exists over the damaged portion of the line. The trains are running smoothly, and the Department hopes to have the bulk of the accumulated good,s moved by Monday. *
