TRIBUTE TO UNITED STATES

Rec. 10 a.m. SYDNEY, Jan. 16. As a tribute to the United States, the latest Australian-built Tribal class destroyer has been named the Bataan. She was launched in a New South Wales dockyard by Mrs. Mac Arthur, wife of the general. When the Australian cruiser Canberra was lost the United States named its latest built cruiser the Canberra. These graceful tributes, said Mr. Nelson Johnson, United States Minister to Australia, symbolised the co-operation between Australia and America.
