FEWER PASSENGERS
CHRISTMAS TRAM TRAFFIC
The number of passengers carried on the Wellington trams during the Christmas period showed a decided falling off compared with the figures for 1942. For the week ending December 29, 1942, 994,842 passengers were carried, compared with 929,780 for the corresponding week of 1943. Christmas Eve figures for the two years were 240,165 and 230,550. I While the year's figures will not be available until March 31 next, it is interesting to note that during some weeks of the year 1,400,000 passengers were carried, and that the average over the year will probably work out at 1,250,000 a week.
