calls being answered up to 2.8 p.m. At 3.4 a.m. the Khandallah station attended to a gorse fire at the top of Ngahauranga Gorge, and later in the morning the Thorndon station answered a justifiable false alarm at the P.W.D. stores in Hinemoa Street. At 12.30 p.m. Central went to a gorse fire at Hollo way Road, at 1.9 the South Wellington station received a call to a gorse fire at the back of the Ewart Hospital, Newtown, at 1.44 Miramar brigadesmen went to a gorse fire behind the aerodrome at Moa Point, and at 2.8 Central attended a grass fire in the grounds of the Te Aro School, The Terrace.
