HUGE FLYING-BOATS
ORDERED BY/U.S. NAVY
WASHINGTON, January 5. The Navy Department has ordered 20 Mars flying-boats for the Naval Air Transport Service. Thqee flying-boats have the cubic capacity of a 15-room house.
Admiral E. S. Land, chairman of the U.S. Maritime Commission, in a speech, said that the aeroplane will supersede giant liners like the Queen Mary, of which no more will be built.
The aeroplane, with its higher speed, will cut heavily into the higher-priced passenger, traffic, and mail revenues on which the liners rely.
