CONTRABAND CONTROL
. RUGBY, January 4. The further measures taken to prevent the Axis smuggling small quantities of precious material through the agency of passengers and personnel of neutral vessels, particularly Spanish, occasioned a visit to the contraband control base at Gibraltar by Mr. Dingle Foot, Parliamentary Secretary of Economic Warfare. Mr. Foot returned to Britain after spending a week in Gibraltar and was accompanied by Mr. Riefler, head of the Economic Warfare Division of the United States Embassy. Collaboration between the two Governments in this particular branch of the war effort is very close.—B.O.W.
