AUSTRALIAN LOSSES
Rec. 9 a.m. SYDNEY, Jan. 5. The Australian casualties since the beginning of the war now total 55,890, the Army Minister, Mr. F. M. Forde, announced today. The 1943 casualties totalled 9031, not including prisoners of war but including many casualties carried over from the Middle East and Far Eastern theatres from the previous year. The total number of Australians killed is 10,884, those wounded in action 15,332; missing, 3779; and prisoners of war, 25,895.
